It's VERY expensive -- little more than a tourist trip. I personally feel that, while you will probably have a good time (depending greatly upon the tour guides) it's way overpriced for what you get. You could take that same amount of money and pay for most of a full year exchange with an organization such as YFU or AFS. It's also not without it's problems. Before you plunk down your money, I'd read this site: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/travel/people_to_people.html

Can anyone please help a highschool student about his future?

Can anyone please help a highschool student about his future?
I am a junior in high school and I've got to start looking at colleges. I really want to move to either the Netherlands(my birthplace) or England when I get older. I live in America but I wanted to start looking at colleges in Europe. Here are my questions. 1.) Would it be easier to get a job in a foreign country if I go to college in that country? And would that college be anymore different over there than over here? 2.)Also, how does everyday life really differ in europe compared to in America

1) It depends on the field of study, the reputation of the school, and the level of degree acquired. Say an MBA from Harvard would not have a problem being hired in a foreign country, but a BA in general studies from State U would find it more difficult to accomplish. 2) It's more expensive. Food costs more, average living space is below that of the average poor person in the US, gas certainly costs way more, cars tend to be smaller. Violent crime per capita is greater, and Islamists are far more of a real and present danger. Depending on where in Europe you settle, you may need to acquire a doctor's prescription for aspirin. Your taxes will probably be higher. In general, the standard of living in Europe is below that of the US. If you settle in Europe, it should be because you enjoy the culture and environment, not because you are looking to live more comfortably or with more luxuries.

I got a letter from People to People Student Ambassador Program.?

I got a letter from People to People Student Ambassador Program.?
I just received a letter from the People to People Organization. They are offering to send me to England, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands for the summer of 2009. I was wondering about the cost, and whether or not it's worth the money. My family is a little tight on money right now, so I need to know what I'll be spending my on. Also, I was wondering if some of the people that went in the past could tell me about their experiences, and whether or not you could tell me about you would do it again.

I received a letter last month, inviting me to go to Japan. I had to decline because of the expenses (not counting room and food, just the airplane flight). I think this is overrated because these rich kids have the opportunity to "buy" high school or college credits. I strongly think that there should be financial aid or full scholarships. It's up to you if you want to go. I heard that it was a great experience. But think about it--you can still get high school or college credit for free... instead of tossing in 5,000 dollars. Good luck and I hoped I helped!

My son had the opportunity to participate in a people to people trip to Italy and Greece in 2006 at the age of 11. He met wonderful kids with whom he made the trip and he had a fabulous time attending many events as well as learning about the different cultures. The cost is somewhat expensive but they ask you to write letters to solicit donations from friends and family. I would highly recommend the trip. I am looking to send my son when the trip for Australia comes around again.

What is the People To People Student Ambassador Program Like?

What is the People To People Student Ambassador Program Like?
I just recieved a letter in the mail today inviting me to "travel and study in Ireland, Wales, England, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands in the summer of 2009". This sounds so exciting! I have a few questions about it before discussing it with my parents. -How much will it cost? -How much spending money should I bring? -Homestay???? -Is it a lot of studying? Like do they test you? Of course I'm fine with learning a lot (thats my main reason to go). -Do we visit a lot of memorials and other special places? -How are the hotels? -About how many people go that you are with? Please, give me any information ya got! I probably will be attending the meeting.

I got a letter to go on a trip to. This might help you with the question you had about what places you will visit. There are other parts on the website too that give a little more detail. I dont know how much it costs, I think its a couple thousand dollars. I was invited to go to China last summer and Im pretty sure they said it would cost about 6 or 8 thousand dollars. Its really expensive! But each trip cost a different amount, so it could be way cheaper. Im pretty sure I read on their website that about 30 to 40 students attend. Oh, and you do stay with a host family for a night or two (I know you do on the two that I had been invited to, Im pretty sure you do for all of them). Well I hope this helps. The website below is for the list of places you go http://www.studentambassadors.org/destinations/2009/BWH.asp
