sometimes you can get buisnesses or companies to sponsor you. you can ask around. garage sales, car washes, tell everyone you know about the trip and ask if they'd be willing to help your cause. i might be doing this too actually, but do you know it you don't get accepted if you get that money back? i know like nothing about this yet . hahah if you could email me & tell me what you know that'd be great haha. i want to go soooooo bad too! i'll need to raise most of the money myself too :/ GOOD LUCK though raising the money.

How much is the People to People Student Ambassador Program?

How much is the People to People Student Ambassador Program?
On average, I mean. I've been nominated to go to England, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland for 20 days from the US. Also, is it worth it? If you've been on this program, some knowledge would be great. THANKS.

From $5,000 to $7,000... depending on the trip. That's the reason you can't find the price anywhere. They hold that surprise until you attend the meeting.

How do I move from the U.S. to the Netherlands permanently?

How do I move from the U.S. to the Netherlands permanently?
I'm a college student in the U.S. right now but I don't know how I will get a job in the Netherlands because I heard they only hire people with EU citizenship, but what could I do to move there because its dream to live in Europe, so how do I get a resident permit? I don't like the mindset and government in the U.S. Please help.

How do you know you would like the "mindset and government" in a European country? Many Europeans certainly do not. Hvae you been watching the news about France today? If you up and move every time you are not pleased with the gov't someplace, you may never settle down. The only way to get a job in a European country is to have an amazing and badly needed skill...so better get to work on that...and take a look at countries that are not members of the European Union. For right now, do not worry about the gov't...worry about finishing your own education, finding a decent job, getting some life experience...maybe even working to improve your own country. Kids fresh out of college simply do not get work permits in Europe.Maybe you could take a smester or a year of university in Europe on a student visa...to get some experience there.

well, that's true for all EU nations. it's not that they hire only EU citizens...the law simply obliges employers to prioritize EU citizens. if they are to hire somebody from outside EU, they have to prove that nobody's qualified to fill in the post within the EU zone... and rarely does it happen here really (i mean employers sponsoring your working permit) coz it would take up to 6 months really for their application for your working permit to have results... what some people do, they look for partners here. when you are registered as a legal partner of somebody here, you will automatically be given a working and staying permit. and don't worry about finding a job just becoz you don't speak dutch. there are lots of jobs here that don't necessarily require proficiency in the dutch language... i've lived in Holland for 2 years now. I work offshore and just stay in Amsterdam when it's my off. I only have staying permit not working permit...

It's very difficult to emigrate from the U.S. to the Netherlands. People with EU citizenship do get first dibs on jobs.

I'm not sure...I got one too, but for China. I'm pretty excited but people keep telling me it's like a scam or something. I dunno what to think about it. I hope it's not cos I really wanna go. And my friend says she got the same thing. I'm pretty confused...

I'm not sure either. I got an offer to go to Italy, France, and Greece, for the summer of '09, so I was psyched. I asked my dad about it and he was like, "It's probably a scam." So I researched it and apparently it's legit, but not as safe as they might imply. A kid with diabetes died on a trip to Japan last summer. The article I read was my source.

First you go to the informational meeting. They will give you a packet of stuff and go over everything with you. Then you have to send in an application, get recommendations, and be interviewed. after you are accepted you'll have a meeting once a month with the group you are going with until the date of the trip. You'll do diffrent projects and assignments and get to know the people you are traveling with.

i also got a letter saying i was invited to spain, france, and italy in the summer of 09. i assume there is some hidden cost of several thousand dollars that People to People did not put in the letter. does anyone know if that's true?
