How do I get into a school in the Netherlands?
How do I get into a school in the Netherlands?
I am currently attending community college in the states, but want to go to college [what they call high school] in the Netherlands. What are the requirements for admission? What are schools that allow international students? And if that's not possible are there US university/ colleges online that I can take while away and still get credited for the community college I am registered at?

I am a U.S. student planning on enrolling in an American Uni in The Netherlands. I need a loan! Help!?
I am currently enrolled in a private university in Texas that is about $30,000 a year. I do not get financial aid because my parents make too much money. I am majoring in International Business and am interested in enrolling at Webster University in Leiden, The Netherlands. The tuition is about the same as I am paying in the United States, BUT..my dad does not want me to go there (he thinks I should stay here.) He says the only way I can go overseas is if I get a loan. Since I would be attending an AMERICAN university (just overseas..), what are my options? Thanks!

You may be able to get an alternative/private loan, however you would most likely need a co-signer. Also, if you borror 30,000 on a private loan, you will actually end up paying back about 90,000 because of the high interest. If your parents are footing the bill if you study in the US, then you should be appreciative and stay here. Paying back $90,000 for one year of school is crazy. Maybe you can work something out with your parents, maybe you can study abroad one semester, or maybe you can do a summer course abroad. I would really work with your parents to try to find a compromise.

I am specifically looking at Den Haag (Netherlands) or Limerick/Galway (Ireland). I also might mention that I am an American student looking for a great European travel/study abroad experience. Thanks for your input!

Congrats on wanting to study abroad! Both the Netherlands and Ireland are great places. I have never been to Den Haag, but I know Limerick, Galway and most of Ireland pretty well. The areas have great universities, amazing sites, and fun food. Galway is great if you like a cool city/college town, as well as the coast. My cousin lives in Galway and loves it. You're only a couple hours away from Dublin and most of Ireland. You can easily fly from Galway, Dublin, or Cork to most of Europe. Hi, I'm a dutch university student living on "studiefinanciering" a kind of student loan and would like to know how to get a visa for my peruvian girlfriend to come and live with me, she has university studies (communication sciences) and speaks fluent English, no dutch however. Please any advice anyone could give me would be very appreciated since I love and miss her a lot. By the way, I met her in Peru where I was living before coming to The Netherlands to finish my career.

I don't think you'll be able to. You have to demonstrate that you have sufficient income to support BOTH of you. The government will not take into account any income she might be able to earn once she has a work visa. Even if you marry her, she may still not get a visa because of this.

In order to bring your partner to the Netherlands it is NOT necessary to be married. The only requirement is that you must have a long-term and exclusive relationship (so polygamy is not allowed). It doesn't even have to be a heterosexual relationship by the way. You do however have an obligation to share a household once your partner is in the Netherlands. If the police or the IND find out she is living elsewhere she risks deportation. It is however necessary to have a FIXED job that brings in 120% of the minimum-wage. If you cannot make this, then forget it. The Dutch IND will only wave this requirement for people over 65 or who are on disability benefit. Apart from a salary, your girlfriend also has to pass a basic Dutch language exam (in Peru) according to the new law. Without a passing grade she will not get the residency permit. Apart from all this: In order to apply for a residency permit in the Netherlands she must first get a MVV in her home country. This is very important because there is no way the IND will give you a residency permit without this little piece of paper and it is not available in Holland... Good luck to both of you!

I am a college student wondering if there is there a way to intern (paid) at the US embassy in Netherlands? What steps would I need to go through to get an internship like this? I would be aiming for a summer position and am curious if there's anything like this available. Thank you for any help!

I'm currently in Grade 11, approaching the halfway mark. I am interested in studying abroad. I was thinking the other day, Australia has a lot of international students, so can I study as an international student overseas? I would love to study in France, The Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, or Austria. As they are centrally located in Europe. Can I for my undergraduate (Bachelor of Business, (Marketing/Advertising. P.s Haven't decided on yet) study in one of these countries in english. I would love to. Thank-you!

Yes, of course. Simply contact your nearest consular office of whichever country or countries you are interested in and find out the visa requirements. It will likely be easier for you to get a visa once you have been accepted to a university.

Most non-English european countries do their undergraduate degrees in English - some postgraduate degrees are in English but not their undergraduate. If you do this in as a year within an exchange program you only pay HECS fees for the year, but if you do the entire degree over there you will pay non-EU fees which are about the same as our international fees (100K for a degree) which will need to be paid up front. Unless you family is very rich they will not be able to get this saved up in one year.
