I will be going from India to UK on a student VISA but via Amsterdam. Do i need a Transit Visa for Amsterdam?
While i travel from India to UK on a student VISA, i have a connecting flight through Amsterdam. So i was wondering if one require a transit visa for the same. I have heard that Indian Nationals do not require a transit visa for Netherlands. is that true? Kindly throw some light on it...

You have heard right. Indian passport holders only need an Airport Transit Visa (ATV, type A) for the following Schengen countries: Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Slovakia, Spain. The ATV requirement is waived for those who hold a valid visa for Bulgaria, Canada, Cyprus, Ireland, Japan, Romania, Liechtenstein, the United Kingdom, or the United States of America. You can transit via Amsterdam without a visa provided that you: • continue your journey to a third country on a connecting flight • hold a ticket with confirmed seats for your next destination • hold all documents required for your next destination • have your luggage checked through to your final destination • do not leave the airport transit area Source(s): EU-Visa Code, Article 3, 5.
