Could you please read my summer school essay?

Could you please read my summer school essay?
I'm a student from the Netherlands and I'm applying for Pepperdine university summer school. I think my essay is pretty damn good. But I could really use some criticism, ofcourse. Could you please read my essay? Just respond to this question and I'll send it to you. Thank you! I must be really stupid, but... how do I send it?

How would you interpret this?

How would you interpret this?
I was hanging out with group of people at a pub/restaurant. We were all seated around a big round table. They were friends of my friend (I didn't know them). I was talking to two people next to me and we were having a great conversation. During the conversation I looked around the table and saw two of her other female friends smiling at me. They both had a certain look in their eyes. They weren't invovled in the conversation (the table was long so they were about 10 feet away). They were really attractive foreign exchange students from the Netherlands. What does this mean? How would you interpret this? Were they just being friendly? Or were they flirting?

They probably said "alfen noogen floober goober zen gutenzum geberstag." It means, "Gee, look at the huge booger hanging out of his nose." Yeah, they dig you man.

What's your univeristies' coolest sustainability initiative?

What's your univeristies' coolest sustainability initiative?
Maybe your university has covered their entire roof with solar panels, made an alliance with local organic farmers, or purchased hundreds of acres of rainforest to save precious species.... The academic world (often) advocates principles of sustainability, but what do universities do themselves to put these nice principles in practice? I am creating a booklet of best practices on academic institutions, and i am especially intersted in projects that are initiated by students, or that are doen in cooperation with small business or companies. The booklet is meant to inspire managers, teachers, policymakers and students in the Netherlands to start greening their universities. Links are most appreciated

Mine is using algae to obtain fuel. Seems to be ok. Next year they are going tro up the production and sell to the power company.

I attend a small college in Minneapolis called Augsburg, so some sustainable stuff may come easier than to a large uni, but some things the school does I like include... >All our energy comes from wind power. >We're located in the city, so cars are not required. Biking is big, and we have a bike share program (with a local bike shop), and an hour car on campus. >The school is a site for a CSA drop-off. We have a small garden as well. The program on campus that serves meals to those in need uses 6 shares from this farm during the growing season. >We compost a lot more than we throw away (this was largely student done, but is in its infancy as we just began food service with a new company) All of the packaging on the food sold (like cups and containers) is biodegradable. Fair-trade products on campus, as well. >There is a fair amount of curriculum dedicated to environmental issues, as well as a new 'class' that for the incoming freshmen starting next fall (which will run 3 years) called "the fate of the earth" and it focuses on consumption. Also, through school, I took a class called "Sustainable Cities in North America" this summer. We visited Portland State University, which has a lot of "green" aspects in their buildings, and could be useful to you...

Hogeschool in the netherlands?

Hogeschool in the netherlands?
Can anyone tell me what is hogeschool in the netherlands, are they high school, college or university? Is it that only good students go to university and others go to hogeschool? And generally how many years they spend in hogeschool to get a degree? My friend spent FIVE years to get a degree, is he a looser? Thank you.

Roughly equivalent to college. As a professor once said to me, in university we train you to be a scientist. If you want to learn how to do a job go to a hogeschool. Intellectual level is similar but a hogeschool's program is aimed at skills you need as a professional. You end a hogeschool with a bachelor's degree. 4 years is standard but 5 years is not at all uncommon. Any longer and you get to call him a looser.
